Homeopathic health practitioners, or homeopaths, use pills, ointments, gels, drops, creams, tablets, or liquid mixtures. These are known as potentiated substances. Treatments are individualized for each client making it common for two people with the same condition to receive different treatments. The holistic approach to homeopathy includes extensive intakes to understand the client’s mental, emotional and physical state.

Homeopathy or homeopathic medicine is a system of natural health care based on the philosophy that the body has an innate ability to heal itself. Homeopathy was founded over 200 years ago in Germany and has been widely practiced throughout England, India, and other European countries. Homeopathy sees symptoms of illness as appropriate responses of the body attempts to heal itself.

This plays into the two unique theories:

  • “Like cures like”—the notion that if a substance causes symptoms in a healthy person, giving a very small dose of the same substance may alleviate the illness. The homeopathic dose enhances the body’s regulatory and self healing processes.

  • “Law of minimum dose”—the notion that the smaller doses of medication enhances its effectiveness.
